Who We Are

Rooted in hospitality. Refined by experience.

Since 1953

A Story Rooted in Care

WATABE began in 1953 with a single, human gesture. Our founder, Fuji Watabe, lent her own garments—without charge—so that others could mark the most important moments of their lives with dignity.

What began as an act of care became a way of working. More than seventy years on, the same instinct guides everything we create: the belief that the moments that matter most deserve to be held with intention.

In Hawaiʻi since 1973

Rooted in Hawaiʻi

We established ourselves in Hawaiʻi in 1973—and never left. For more than fifty years we have worked across these islands: building relationships with venues and communities, and supporting guests from Japan, North America, and around the world.

That time has given us something no itinerary can—a real understanding of Hawaiʻi’s places, its people, and the work of making something meaningful happen on the ground.
